AB  - Tomato, one of the most produced vegetables in the world, is experiencing continuous global increase in both production and consumption. Fruit quality traits are important for fresh market tomatoes as well as for the processing industry. Despite the growing demand for both fresh and processed tomatoes, consumers are not satisfied with the quality of available fruits. The main objectives of the present work were to determine the physicochemical characteristics [pH, total soluble solids (TSS), total titratable acids (TTA), TSS/TTA ratio, DMC, lycopene, β-carotene, vitamin C, and total phenolic content], as well as the antioxidant activity of 13 different tomato lines, and to identify the most promising ones in terms of fruit taste and quality. Antioxidant activity was determined using the ABTS and DPPH methods with Trolox used as the standard compound. PCA analysis was conducted to identify group patterns. The results of PCA analysis indicated a specific genotypic response in all investigated physicochemical traits. Genotypes 2, 10, and 13 were identified as the best for fresh consumption, as they exhibited the highest levels of compounds crucial for good taste, nutrition, and human health benefits. The most promising genotype related to fruit quality attributes was genotype 10 with the best TSS and TAA content and TSS/TAA ratio, which is important for overall taste perception. On the other hand, genotype 9 showed promise for industrial purposes due to its ideal pH value in the juice and good soluble solid content. High antioxidant activity was characteristic of genotypes 1 and 2, and their consumption as fresh tomatoes can be beneficial to human health. They also should be considered for further evaluation as potentially interesting genotypes for abiotic stress research and selection programs which can lead to the development of both superior fruit quality and stress tolerant genotypes.

AB  - Primena sintetičkih pesticida u zaštiti bilja se poslednjih godina sve više zamenjuje
ekološki prihvatljivim i zdravstveno bezbednim rešenjima, što podrazumeva i primenu
mikroorganizama kao biokontrolnih agenasa u suzbijanju biljnih bolesti i štetočina. Bacillus
velezensis je gram-pozitivna bakterija koju je moguće izolovati iz različitih niša, uglavnom
zemljišta, vode i korena biljaka. Kao rizobakterijski organizam poznat je po sposobnosti da
podstiče imunitet biljke u uslovima stresa, biotičke ili abiotičke prirode. Cilj ovog rada je
ispitivanje potencijala B. velezensis soja P64 poreklom sa semena paprike (sorta Župska
Rana) za suzbijanje fitopatogene bakterije Xanthomonas euvesicatoria, prouzrokovača
bakteriozne pegavosti paprike, u in vivo uslovima.
Eksperiment je postavljen na sorti paprike Župska rana gajenoj u poljskim uslovima
(lokalitet Čenta) na kojoj su izvedena dva tretmana, prvi u fenofazi razvoja listova, a drugi
tokom cvetanja. Izolat X22 X. euvesicatoria i B. velezensis soj P64 su gajeni na YDC i LB
podlozi, redom, i pripremljene su bakterijske suspenzije koncentracije 107 CFU mL-1 za
fitopatogena, odnosno 108 CFU mL-1 za antagonistu. Tretmani su podrazumevali folijarnu
primenu soja B. velezensis 48 h pre (preventivni tretman) i 48 h nakon inokulacije paprike
(prskanjem) sa X. euvesicatoria izolatom X22 (kurativni tretman). Eksperimentalna parcela je
redovno zalivana, a biljke su svakodnevno prskane vodom kako bi se obezbedili uslovi
vlažnosti koji pogoduju ostvarivanju i širenju infekcije. Ocena intenziteta zaraze je vršena
ukupno 6 puta, na svakih sedam dana od primene tretmana, korišćenjem skale 0-4 (0=bez
simptoma, 1=10% lezija na površini lista, 2=25%, 3=50-80% i 4=>80% površine lista sa
lezijama). Efikasnost primenjenih tretmana izračunata je preko Abbott-ove formule.
Efikasnost preventivnih tretmana sa B. velezensis sojem P64 se kretala od 74,43%, 7
dana posle tretmana (DPT), do 98,09% 49 DPT, uz intenzitet zaraze 4,72% prilikom prve
ocene, a 0,61% tokom poslednje ocene. Efikasnost kurativnih tretmana se kretala od 90,41%
7 DPT, do 97,43% 49 DPT, a intenzitet zaraze je bio 1,77% (7 DPT) odnosno 0,82% (49 DPT).
U kontroli je zabeležen intenzitet zaraze od 18,46%, 24,39%, 26,37%, 31,06%, 27,58%,
28,11% i 31,92% ocenjen 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42 i 49 DPT, redom. Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju na
visok potencijal B. velezensis soja P64 u kontroli bakteriozne pegavosti paprike.

AB  - The main goal of our study was to find an optimal combination of tested factors to achieve lettuce rich in bioactive compounds sustaining its pleasant taste. We examined three red and three green cultivars in a greenhouse using two microbiological fertilisers (EM Aktiv and Vital Tricho), and their combination. Plants were grown in three consecutive growing seasons (autumn, winter, and spring). Lactones accumulated in autumn, whereas phenolics’ concentration rose during winter. Red cultivars showed higher phenolics and lactone content, where chicoric acid and luteolin-7-glucoside were the most abundant in the ‘Gaugin’ winter trial. Lactucopicrin was the predominant lactone among tested cultivars with the highest value in the red cultivar ‘Carmesi’. Solely applicated, the fertiliser EM Aktiv and Vital Tricho led to significantly higher phenolic acid and dihydrolactucopicrin content, while combined, there were notably increased levels of all detected lactones. Application of single fertilisers had no effect on flavonoid content, while the combination even reduced it. A sensory analysis showed a negative correlation between overall taste and total sesquiterpene lactones,lactucopicrin, caffeoylmalic, and chlorogenic acid, indicating a less bitter taste with decreasing content of these compounds. Our findings indicate that the cultivar, fertiliser, and growing season jointly affected all of the tested parameters, highlighting the differences in the application of EM Aktiv, Vital Tricho, and their combination.

Changes in quality indicators of different cucumber hybrid seeds during five years of aging

AB  - The aim of the research was to evaluate the effect of year and seed hybrids on the most significant indicators of the seed quality of cucumber. Testing the quality of seeds of three different hybrids of cucumber: Centauro F1, Edona F1 and Solatio F1 was carried out during a five-year period (2018 - 2022). Analysis of germination energy, seed germination, abnormal seedlings and dead seeds cucumber showed highly significant differences (r< 0.001) correlation was established between germination energy and: abnormal seedlings (r = -0.94535) and dead seeds (r = -0.93255). Likewise, a strongest negative (p < 0.001) correlation was found between seed germination and: abnormal seedlings (r = - 0.97497) and dead seeds (r = -0.98545). The obtained results indicate that the germination energy and seed germination of highly hybrid conventional cucumber seeds decreases significantly after the third year of aging, but only in the case of the Edona F1 hybrid.

AB  - Various statistical methods were applied in this research: analysis of genetic parameters, Pearson’s correlation, genotypic and phenotypic correlations, and Path analysis, with the aim of creating a selection criterion for increasing wheat grain yield. A twoyear experimental study was conducted with twenty-seven wheat genotypes, grown on two localities: Rimski Šančevi (Bačka, Vojvodina), on Chernozem soil type; and Kumane (Banat, Vojvodina), on Solonjec soil type. The highest values of phenotypic coefficient of variation (CVp) had the grain weight per plant (17.44% on Chernozem and 13.81% on Solonetz), while the lowest value of CVp had the thousand grain weight (8.12% on Chernozem and 5.47% on Solonetz). On Chernozem, the value of the genotypic coefficient of variation (CVg) ranged from 1.51%, in the number of grains per spike, to 9.17% in the spike length, while on Solonetz, grain weight per plant had the lowest value of CVg (0.36%) and plant height the highest one (11.15%). At both localities, grain yield was in highly significant and positive correlations with all analyzed traits, except with plant height and spike length. In favorable environmental conditions (Chernozem), Path analysis revealed that grain yield directly depends on grain weight per spike (0.317**), number of grains per spike (0.232**) and spike weight (0.209**), and other analyzed traits have a positive indirect effect on grain yield over mentioned traits. Under salinity stress conditions, the grain weight per plant had the highest direct effect on grain yield (0.891**), which makes this trait a good selection criterion in breeding for salinity stress tolerance.

popular vegetables around the world. Changes in the quality of the seeds of autochthonous varieties of pepper seeds: Palanačko
Čudo, Župska Rana, and Kobra were monitored in three years (2019–2021). It was noticed that the slightest difference in
germination was obtained with the cultivar Palnačko Čudo (p>0.05) in three years. The Župska Rana had the best germination in
2019 (95%) compared to Palnačko Čudo and Kobra (p<0.05). The germination energy of Župska Rana is significantly higher
compared to other selected varieties, 89% (p<0.05). There was a significant decrease in total germination in 2020. compared to
2019. (p<0.05) and amounted to 83%; accordingly, the germination energy decreased. No phytopathogenic fungi were detected in
the Župska Rana sample. Total germination and energy decreased significantly compared to the previous two years (p<0.05). During
the analysis of quality parameters in 2021, the slightest change in quality was observed in the variety Palanačko Čudo, including
germination energy and moisture. A significant decrease in the germination of Župska Rana was noticed during the period 2019–
2021. The lowest percentage of phytopathogenic fungi in the three years was detected in Župska Rana.

AB  - Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is characterized by specific temperature requirements and develops best at about 20°C. High temperatures during the growing season cause an array of changes in potato plants, which affect its development and may lead to a drastic reduction in economic yield. Under natural conditions, drought and heat stress are two different types of abiotic stresses that occur in the field simultaneously or separately, especially in conditions without irrigation in potato production. This study aimed to examine the productivity of nine potato varieties in agro-ecological conditions of western Serbia and to find the genotypes that will give satisfactory and high yields. The field experiment was carried out with varieties: Cleopatra, Anuschka, Presto, Kuroda, Omega, Dita, Desiree, Roko and Jelly. The impact year and genotype on potato plants were tested during a four-year period (2010-2013). The final harvest was performed after the full maturity of plants in September. Our studies confirmed that potato marketable yield and total yield are greatly reduced at temperatures higher than optimal and deficit precipitation during the growing season. Here we demonstrated that the tested potato cultivar’s response to heat stress and drought in the growing season is dependent on the longer the adverse effects and the growth stage. The earlier a heat and drought occurs, the more negative the impact on the growth and productive traits of potatoes. The results obtained in this study indicate that among the tested cultivars Cleopatra was the most tolerant to heat and drought stress acting on the plants during the growing season. Our research shows that the total yield was not the only indicator of potato tolerance to abiotic stress during the growing season, but the assessment should also take into account the occurrence of secondary tuberization and physiological defects of tubers. These studies confirm that Cleopatra had the largest share (82%) of market tubers in relation to the total yield and to have the best predisposition for the highest economic yield of tubers. Our experiment showed that heat and drought tolerant potato cultivars could be used to mitigate the effects of global warming in Serbia and wider Western Balkans regions.

grown around the world. Production of carrots in Serbia is generated in Vojvodina with the
highest yields 27.4 t/ha, while other regions generate lower yields. Current studies on carrots
mainly focus on nutrient content and carotenoid synthesis. Seeds can be infected with
phytopathogens, which can contaminate other seeds or spread the infection to other crops. Out of
the 16% of annual crop losses due to plant diseases, at least 10% are caused by seed-borne
diseases. Changes in the quality of Nantes carrot seeds were monitored for three years (2019-
2021). Total germination was highest in the first year with 92% (2019). In 2020, there was a
significant decrise in total germination of 8%. Accordingly, germination energy was reduced
(p<0.05). A statistically significant difference in total germination was not obtained between
2020 and 2021 (p>0.05). The decrease in total germination from 2019 to 2021 was significant
(p<0.05%). It has been noticed that the infection of Alternaria spp. and Fusarium spp. was the
lowest in 2019 and increased in 2020 and 2021 (4% and 5%, p<0.05), respectively. The results
may indicate an association between the percentage of phytopathogens present and germination.
In conclusion, pathogen-free seeds are necessary to create a healthy plant population, better
germination and higher yields.

AB  - The results of multi-year research on tuber yield and starch content of several potato varieties in the agro-ecological conditions of northern Montenegro are presented. The investigated varieties were of different ripening times, from early varieties (Riviera), medium early (Almera, Aladin and Bounty) to medium late (Agria, Margarita, Kennebec and Desiree). Research was conducted in 2015., 2016. and 2017, on acidic, brown soil. The experiments were placed at three different altitudes and therefore at three different climatic locations: Nedakusi (556 m), Sutivan (680 m) and Orahovica (900 m). Trials were set up in three replicas, using standard methodology in a random block design. Uticaj fitopatogenih gljiva na ukupnu klijavost semena pasulja

AB  - Pasulj (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) je važna mahunarka koja se uzgaja širom sveta zbog nutritivnog sastava (visokog sadržaja proteina, minerala i vitamina). Kvalitet semena Panonskog gradištanca i Panonskog tetovca testiran je u trogodišnjem periodu (2019-2021). Ukupna klijavost kod Panonskog tetovca iznosila je 73% (2019), dok je narednih posmatranih godina značajno opala 69% (2020) i 59% (2021). Kod Panonskog gradištanca primećena je značajno bolja klijavost. Prve posmatrane godine iznoslila je 80% (2019). Ukupna klijavost tokom 2020-2021. godine bila je u značajnom padu (75%), a između tih godina nije bilo statistički značajne razlike. Najmanji procenat fitopatogenih gljiva detektovan je kod Panonskog gradištanca koji je imao najmanji procenat fitopatogenih gljiva. Može se zaključiti da fitopatogene gljive značajno utiču na ukupnu klijavost semena pasulja

AB  - This paper presents research of production possibilities of miscanthus (Mischantus × giganteus Greef et Deu) in agroecological conditions of Serbia. For that purpose, an experiment was set up in Srem on the site of Podunavlje village of Surduk. The soil on which the plantation was established in 2012 belongs to the type of carbonate chernozem on a loess plateau, at an altitude of 150 m. Stalk height in the panicle stage and yield of dry miscanthus stalks during five years, from 2015 to 2019, as well as the content of cellulose in dry stalks depending on agroecological conditions and variants of fertilization without top dressing and with spring top dressing of 30 kg ha1 of nitrogen fertilizer, were analysed. The highest recorded yield of dry stalks was in 2019 (34.525 kg ha1 ), and the lowest recorded yield was in the dry year of 2017 (17.980 kg ha1 ), both in the variant with top-dressing.

Utvrđena je statistički značajna razlika u prinosu po godinama i sortama. Najveći prinos ostvarila je sorta PKB Kardinal (9437 kg ha-1 ), a najmanji sorta Favorit (6877 kg ha-1 ), u obje godine ispitivanja. U 2020. godini, koja je bila povoljnija za proizvodnju, ostvaren je prosječan prinos za sve sorte od 9010 kg ha-1 , dok je u 2019. godini ostvaren prinos od 7811 kg ha-1 . Sadržaj proteina u zrnu ovisio je o ispitivanim sortama i godinama. U prosjeku, sadržaj proteina se kretao od 12,02 % (Odisej) do 14,40 % (Favorit). Gledajući godine, prosječan sadržaj proteina u zrnu bio je veći u sušnoj vegetacijskoj sezoni 2018./2019. za oko 27 % nego u kišnoj 2019./2020.

Uticaj genotipa i spoljašnje sredine na prinos plavog patlidžana

AB  - Jedan od ciljeva u gajenju i selekciji plavog patlidžana (Solanum melongena L.) jeste veći prinos, kao i prilagođavanje različitim uslovima sredine. Naša studija obuhvatila je 20 različitih genotipova plavog patlidžana. Ogled je realizovan na tri različite lokacije (Smederevska Palanka, Vranovo i Kusadak) po slučajnom blok sistemu sa 3 ponavljanja. Ispitivan je uticaj dva faktora na prinos po biljci: genotipa i lokaliteta. Dvofaktorijalna ANOVA je pokazala značajan uticaj genotipa, lokaliteta kao i interakcije genotip x lokalitet na prinos po biljci. Nakon analize 20 genotipova na tri različita lokaliteta zabeleženi prosečni prinos po biljci iznosio je 2,47 kg. Značajno veći prinosi po biljci u odnosu na opšti prosek, zabeleženi su kod genotipovia K13 (3,02 kg), K20 (2,99 kg), K21 (3,44 kg), K34 (4,35 kg), K39 (4,28 kg). Najveći prinos je imao genotip K34 na lokalitetu Vranovo (4,71 kg). Na lokalitetu Smederevska Palanka genotip K39 je imao najveću prosečnu vrednost, dok je najmanju vrednost prinosa ispod opšteg proseka imao genotip K1 (1,09 kg). Genotip K39 je imao značajno viši prinos po biljci iznad prosečne vrednosti i na lokalitetu Kusadak. Najstabilniji lokalitet na osnovu koeficijenta AMMI stabilnosti (0,92) bila je Smederevska Palanka, dok je najmanje stabilan lokalitet bio Kusadak (2,34). Genotipovi K13, K39, K36 sa prinosom iznad opšteg proseka, imali su malu vrednost PC1, što ukazuje da su bili pod manjim uticajem lokaliteta, tj. da su imali dobru stabilnost prinosa na svim lokalitetima. Genotip K34 se izdvojio kao najprinosniji genotip dok su genotipovi K21 i K25 ispoljili usku adaptabilnost u lokalitetu Kusadak.

Značajno veći prinosi po biljci u odnosu na opšti prosek, zabeleženi su kod genotipovia K13 (3,02 kg), K20 (2,99 kg), K21 (3,44 kg), K34 (4,35 kg), K39 (4,28 kg). Najveći prinos je imao genotip K34 na lokalitetu Vranovo (4,71 kg). Na lokalitetu Smederevska Palanka genotip K39 je imao najveću prosečnu vrednost, dok je najmanju vrednost prinosa ispod opšteg proseka imao genotip K1 (1,09 kg). Genotip K39 je imao značajno viši prinos po biljci iznad prosečne vrednosti i na lokalitetu Kusadak. Najstabilniji lokalitet na osnovu koeficijenta AMMI stabilnosti (0,92) bila je Smederevska Palanka, dok je najmanje stabilan lokalitet bio Kusadak (2,34). Genotipovi K13, K39, K36 sa prinosom iznad opšteg proseka, imali su malu vrednost PC1, što ukazuje da su bili pod manjim uticajem lokaliteta, tj. da su imali dobru stabilnost prinosa na svim lokalitetima. Genotip K34 se izdvojio kao najprinosniji genotip dok su genotipovi K21 i K25 ispoljili usku adaptabilnost u lokalitetu Kusadak.",

AB  - У раду је анализиран принос и просечан садржај уља код уљане репице у више производних година, у огледима који су изведени на огледном пољу Факултета за биофарминг у Бачкој Тополи. Као хибрид са највећим приносом зрна показао се Factor (4.570 kg ha-1), који је такође имао и највећи просечни принос за све четири године испитивања (4.042 kg ha-1). Највећи садржај уља у огледу имао је хибрид Artoga (42,9%) који је имао и највећи просечан садржај уља у све четири године испитивања (41,59%), док је најмањи садржај уља оствариохибрид Umberto (39,17%).

Suzbijanje korova u usevima pasulja i boranije

AB  - Phaseolus vulgaris (pasulj; boranija) kao namirnica visoke nutritivne vrednosti zauzima značajno mesto u ljudskoj ishrani. Pored svih osnovnih uslova gajenja, jedan od ključnih zahteva za postizanje visokih prinosa je uspešna borba protiv korova. Kao najdominantije vrste u našim agroekološkim uslovima javljaju se korovi: Amaranthus retrofl exus, Chenopodium album, Datura stramonium, Abutilon theophrasti, Xanthium strumarium, Cirsium arvense, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Sorghum halapense i dr. Primena koncepta integralnog suzbijanja korova podrazumeva primenu svih raspoloživih mera (plodored, pravilna i pravovremena obrada zemljišta, primena herbicida i dr.). Iako u svetu postoji širi dijapazon registrovanih herbicida za suzbijanje korova u usevu pasulja i boranije, u Srbiji su registrovani preparati na bazi aktivnih materija: kletodim, kvizalofop–P–tefuril, imazamoks i bentazon.
